From space to the deepest ocean trenches

January 2026

We are proud to showcase two standout projects that highlight our engineering expertise and versatility. From designing subsea pressure housings for a well-known space technology company to creating solutions for the world’s deepest oceans, our housings deliver reliability and resilience in the most extreme environments.

A major U.S. space technology company approached OceanTools with detailed specifications, and we designed and built a highly intricate pressure vessel to meet their requirements. Made from Grade 5 Titanium, it measures 520mm in diameter, around a metre in length, and weighs nearly 400kg. The project demonstrates the confidence that industry leaders place in OceanTools for precision-critical applications.

Kevin Parker, Managing Director of OceanTools, said:

“We’re proud to support companies at the forefront of space technology. This project is a great example of how our precision-engineered pressure vessels are trusted by industries that demand robust, reliable engineering solutions.”

Our pressure housings are also being deployed to the Mariana Trench, the deepest part of the world’s oceans. At over 10,000 metres below sea level, the trench represents one of the most extreme environments on Earth. Designed to withstand immense underwater pressures, these housings support deep-sea exploration and research in one of the planet’s most challenging environments.

Together, these projects highlight our ability to engineer solutions across vastly different subsea pressure regimes. From large housings operating at moderate depths to compact units designed for full ocean depth, OceanTools applies materials, precision engineering and proven manufacturing expertise to meet the specific demands of each application.

DyeTector system rentals

July 2025

We are excited to share that our DyeTector detection system, available through our technology partner, Ashtead Technology, continues to go from strength to strength.

To support the increased demand in the US and confidence in our cutting-edge technology, we have committed to building another ten D10 three-channel DyeTectors to meet increasing customer needs. Steven Thrasher, Regional Director of Ashtead Technology in the US, shared his perspective on this exciting growth:

“At Ashtead Technology, we are dedicated to bringing the absolute best-in-class technical solutions to the market. Having a technology partner like OceanTools who develop reliable, user-friendly tools that outperform expectations is what enables us to achieve this goal.”

We are proud of the success of this collaboration and excited for what lies ahead as we continue to innovate and grow together.

Meet the D10 DyeTector – the next-generation, three-channel subsea dye detection system engineered for pinpoint accuracy and extreme sensitivity:

  • Detects Rhodamine, Fluorescein and UV dyes

  • Single device for all three dye types – no need to swap units

  • High-intensity focused beam with precision filtering

  • Photon-level sensitivity – many times more sensitive than the human eye

  • Detects from several metres away – no direct contact needed

  • Built from aviation-grade titanium and sapphire glass – rated to 4000m

  • Compatible with C-Dye 530, C-Dye 370, and a wide range of industry dyes

With intuitive DyeTection software, real-time surface data, and advanced ambient light suppression, the D10 is the most capable and versatile dye detection tool on the subsea market today.
